Fbkid's Week 9 Predictions

Last week was a decent one as I went 8-6 on my picks. At the half way point, teams are really starting to show how they really are. Many people thought that the Titans were undefeated due to the easy schedule they had played. But that all changed once they beat the Colts at home on Monday Nght. Here are my week 9 picks.

Game of the weak: Jaguars vs Bengals: The Jaguars really need to win this game badly and the Bengals offense has had a hard time moving the ball with Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback.

Game of the week: Steelers vs Redskins: Both of these teams are considered among the best teams in the league. But the winner will be looked at as a possible Super Bowl contender the rest of the season.

Last Week: 8-6
Season: 66-50

Jets 17 Bills 23
Lions 16 Bears 27
Jaguars 24 Bengals 13
Ravens 17 Browns 21
Bucs 27 Chiefs 10
Texans 24 Vikings 21
Cardinals 24 Rams 28
Packers 17 Titans 23
Dolphins 21 Broncos 27
Cowboys 14 Giants 28
Falcons 17 Raiders 22
Eagles 28 Seahawks 13
Patriots 20 Colts 28
Steelers 17 Redskins 23

Fbkid's Monday Morning Quarterback

Usually I don't have the chance to do an article about the happenings in all of Sunday's games so here is a special editon of my thoughts on what happened this week in the NFL.

When Shaun Rogers wants to play, he is a monster. It is rare that a defensive tackle stands out and has that big an impact on the entire game. Rogers had 9 tackles along with a sack, a blocked field goal and he also recovered the blocked field goal. He also helped the Browns hold Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew to 53 yards on 20 carries. Overall the Browns defense is a very underrated unit and players like Rogers, D'Qwell Jackson, Sean Jones and Eric Wright could be getting free trips to Hawaii in the next few years. Derek Anderson also made some big time throws including a 53 yard pass to Syndric Steptoe between two defenders.

What a difference a year makes for Matt Jones. A year ago Jaguars fans are calling for his head and wanting him out of town. Now they are praying they throw the ball to him when the game comes down to the wire. Even though he could miss 3 games for his incident this offseason, Jones has been one of the most improved players in the league this season. Fans are also wondering where Jerry Porter is. The team signed Porter to a 6 year deal worth $30 million. So far this season he only has 1 catch for 6 yards in 4 games. With every passing game, fans think he will breakout, here is the slogan for his stay in Jacksonville. "The Jerry Porter Era: Maybe Next Week" Porter has the potential to make a huge impact for the Jaguars but so far he has made the teams signing of Hugh Douglas 5 years ago look like a bargin.

While many of the AFC's powers struggle this year, don't be surprised if the Texans emerge as a potential wild card. They are getting hot at the right time and due to how tough the AFC South was last year they are playing a last place schedule. If Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub continue to play this well, the offense is going to be hard to stop.

While most people look for players out of big conferences such as the SEC and Pac-10 to become stars at the next level, Conference USA is very quietly having a big impact this year on the league. Rookies such as Chris Johnson(East Carolina), Matt Forte(Tulane) and Donnie Avery(Houston) have become big play threats and key weapons for there team. That's not all though as David Garrard(East Carolina), Brandon Marshall(UCF) and Asante Samuel(UCF)have also played well this year.

With many of the league's receivers lashing at their coaches and starting trouble in the media, it's time that some of the league's most underrated receivers get their due. Roddy White has very quitely been one of the most productive receivers in the league this year as he is 3rd in the league with 679 yards. White also has 43 receptions along with 5 touchdowns and that's with a rookie quarterback throwing him the ball. White and Matt Ryan could be one of the league's elite tandems in the next few years. Another receiver is Anquan Boldin. While most people got caught up in the Chad Johnson circus this offseason, Boldin wanted a bigger contract as well. But unlike Johnson, Boldin didn't legally change his last name and is putting his money where his mouth is. In 5 games, Boldin has 36 catches 429 yards and is one of the league leaders with 7 touchdowns. With those kind of numbers, it's about time for Boldin to get payed.

The Steelers offensive line is really going to have to improve. Ben Roethisberger got sacked 5 times against the Giants and was hit even more. While many people praised the Steelers draft in April, they didn't need to take glorified positions such as running back and wide receiver in the first two rounds. Instead, they should have added offensive line depth as right now Rashard Mendenhall is out for the season and Limas Sweed has only played one game and has 3 catches for 28 yards.

The Redskins need to learn how to put teams away. They outgained the Lions 439 to 274 in total yards but that didn't show up in the scoreboard only winning 25-17. Yes, a win is a win but the Lions shouldn't have been in that game in the 4th quarter. Especially with the way Jason Campbell was throwing the ball.

The Jets aren't as good as people think. When you are playing the Chiefs at home and you think that you a contender that is a game you need to win in a big way. The game can't be decided in the last minute like it was. They were outplayed for the majority of the game. If Tyler Thigpen plays like he did on Sunday though, the Chiefs are going to be in a lot of games as they have lots of young talent.

Mike Singletary made the right move sending Vernon Davis to the locker room. This was made into a really big deal by many in the national media. But it was a very good move by Singletary. He is trying to show them how to play the game the way he does and he is an admitted "old school" guy so don't be surprised if this happens a game. Singletary also tried to show a message to his players that what Davis did isn't acceptable and won't be tolerated for the rest of the season. If Singletary had his way, he would probably give the ball to Frank Gore 25 times a game and have Patrick Willis and the defense do the rest. With J.T. O'Sullivan at quarterback, that is a very good strategy for the team to win games but with Mike Martz calling the plays, it is very unlikely.

Fbkid's Week 8 Fantasy Studs

Last week was a very good one for my fantasy studs as Matt Schaub, Mewelde Moore and Bernard Berrian all had big games. That keeps the streak of good weeks alive and hopefully it will continue this week. Here are my week 8 fantasy studs.

QB: Trent Edwards vs Dolphins: Edwards has been one of the league's biggest surprises this year and should have another big game against a poor Dolphins pass defense. Expect around 240 yards and 2 touchdowns.

RB: Thomas Jones vs Chiefs: Jones has already tripled his touchdown total from a year ago and should continue to pile on the numbers against a Chiefs rush defense that allowed 300 yards rushing last week to the Titans. Expect around 140 total yards and 2 touchdowns.

WR: Braylon Edwards vs Jaguars: Aside from one game, Edwards hasn't really done much this season. That can all change against the Jaguars though who have had a very hard time covering the pass. Expect around 90 yards and a touchdown.

TE: Owen Daniels vs Bengals: Daniels has very quietly been one of the best fantasy tight ends this year. He could have another big day against a Bengals defense that has struggled this year. Expect around 60 yards and a touchdown.

K: Josh Scobee vs Browns: The Jaguars offense has struggled getting in the end zone this year and the Browns have a very underrated defense. With that being said, Scobee should get plenty of field goal opportunities. Expect around 3 field goals and 2 extra points.

DEF: 49ers vs Seahawks: When you are playing a team starting Seneca Wallace at quarterback, you know you are in for a big game on defense. Expect around 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.

Star to sit: Michael Turner vs Eagles: Turner has been excellent so far this season but he could be in for a rough game against the Eagles. The Eagles will be blitzing Matt Ryan like crazy and will probably put 8 in the box forcing Ryan to beat them. Turner could have a decent day, but don't expect his usual numbers.

Fbkid's Week 8 Predictions

Last week I went 9-5 which is another decent week for the way things have been so far. So far the season has been very unpredictable as teams are coming out of nowhere each week. A few weeks ago the Rams were arguably the worst team in the league. Now after they fired Scott Linehan, they have beaten the Redskins and the Cowboys. Both who were considered elite teams. Here are my week 8 picks.

Game of the weak: Seahawks vs 49ers: The starting quarterbacks in this game are going to be J.T. O'Sullivan and Seneca Wallace. Enough said.

Game of the week: Giants vs Steelers: Both of these teams are among the best in the league and with the way things are going this could be a preview of the Super Bowl.

Last week: 9-5
Season: 58-44

Raiders 10 Ravens 17
Cardinals 21 Panthers 26
Bucs 21 Cowboys 16
Redskins 27 Lions 17
Bills 21 Dolphins 14
Rams 17 Patriots 23
Chargers 23 Saints 17
Chiefs 10 Jets 35
Falcons 14 Eagles 24
Bengals 16 Texans 31
Browns 14 Jaguars 20
Giants 21 Steelers 27
Seahawks 7 49ers 17
Colts 13 Titans 20

Fbkid's Week 7 Fantasy Studs

Last week was a decent one for my fantasy studs as Steve Breaston had a big game and Joseph Addai didn't do much against the Ravens defense before he got injured. The last few weeks have been good for me though and hopefully it will continue this week. Here are my week 7 fantasy studs.

QB: Matt Schaub vs Lions: Schaub has done very well his last couple games and that shouldn't change against the Lions defense. Schaub looks like he is starting to connect with Andre Johnson again which will really help his value considering Johnson is one of the best receivers in the league. Schaub won't be the only one benefiting from the matchup as Steve Slaton and Owen Daniels are also good starts this week. Expect around 270 yards and 3 touchdowns.

RB: Mewelde Moore vs Bengals: With Willie Parker out, Moore will be getting the majority of carries this week against a struggling Bengals defense. Moore is available in most leagues and could do very well in points per reception leagues. Expect around 110 total yards and a touchdown.

WR: Bernard Berrian vs Bears: Surprisingly, Berrian isn't owned in some leagues but has been one of the best fantasy receivers over the last couple of weeks. Look for Berrian to have another big game against his former team. Expect around 90 yards and a touchdown.

TE: Dustin Keller vs Raiders: Keller has only caught 6 passes this year but 2 of them have been for touchdowns. He may not put up big numbers but he could have a solid week as the Jets will pass the ball early and often against the Raiders. Expect around 30 yards and a touchdown.

K: Matt Bryant vs Seahawks: Bryant has been very consistent so far this year and with the way the Seahawks defense is playing, he could have a very good fantasy game. Expect around 3 field goals and 3 extra points.

Def: Dolphins vs Ravens: The Dolphins defense has played OK this year but if the Ravens offense plays anything like last week, the Dolphins could be in for a big day. Expect around 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.

Star to sit: Julius Jones vs Buccaneers: Jones has been pretty productive this year but could struggle against a Bucs defense that ranks 9th in the league against the run. If you have other options this week, it might be worth considering starting them over Jones.

Fbkid's Week 7 Predictions

Last week I went 8-6 on my picks which is solid for the way things have been going. Many games went down to the final seconds last week and it just continues to show how competitive the league is right now. Who would have thought that the Falcons who picked in the top 3 picks of this year's draft would be tied for first in the NFC south and in the middle of the playoff hunt. Here are my week 7 picks.

Game of the weak: Ravens vs Dolphins: If you are a fan of high scoring games, this one isn't for you.

Game of the week: Chargers vs Bills: The Chargers are on the rise and if the Bills win they will prove themselves as a contender in the AFC.

Last week: 8-6
Season: 49-39

Chargers 20 Bills 24
Saints 17 Panthers 21
Vikings 14 Bears 17
Steelers 31 Bengals 16
Titans 24 Chiefs 10
Ravens 13 Dolphins 16
49ers 14 Giants 31
Cowboys 20 Rams 14
Lions 13 Texans 24
Colts 28 Packers 24
Jets 17 Raiders 14
Browns 16 Redskins 24
Seahawks 10 Bucs 27
Broncos 24 Patriots 20

Fbkid's Week 6 Fantasy Studs

Last week many of my fantasy studs had big games like Steve Slaton, Lee Evans, Matt Prater and the Panthers defense. Here are my week 6 fantasy studs and hopefully they put up the same kind of numbers as last weeks.

QB: Gus Frerotte vs Lions: Frerotte isn't owned in many leagues but he could have a very big game against a poor Lions secondary. Frerotte is also building a very good chemisty with Bernard Berrian so don't be surprised if he has a big day. Expect around 240 yards and 2 touchdowns.

RB: Le'Ron McClain vs Colts: So far this year the Colts have really struggled with the run and with a rookie quarterback, the Ravens will rely on it Sunday. Both McClain and Willis McGahee are very good options but McClain seems to be getting the goalline touches. Expect around 85 yards and a touchdown.

WR: Steve Breaston vs Cowboys: Since Anquan Boldin got hurt,Breaston has emerged as a solid fantasy option. He should have another good game against a struggling Cowboys pass defense. Expect around 75 yards and a touchdown.

TE: Greg Olsen vs Falcons: Olsen's stats have improved over the course of each game and this one should be no different as the Falcons have struggled with tight ends. Olsen should be available in many leagues and could be a very good option this week. Expect around 65 yards and a touchdown.

K: Shaun Suisham vs Rams: The Redskins should put up plenty of points against the Rams and nobody benefits more then Suisham. Suisham may not get many field goal opportunities, but he will certainly get extra points. Expect around 5 extra points and a field goal.

Def: Jets vs Bengals: This game had the making to be a shootout but with Ryan Fitzpatrick now starting for the Bengals, that changes things. The Jets are now a very good defensive option and are available in many leagues. Expect around 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.

Star to sit: Joseph Addai vs Ravens: Unless you have lots of other options, you probably won't sit Addai who was one of the first running backs of the board on draft day. If you start him though, don't expect big numbers as the Ravens defense is back and they are one of the best in the league against the run.

Fbkid's Week 6 Predictions

Last week was very rough as I went only 6-8 on my picks. That shows that the league is more balanced then it has been for a while. Many teams are playing at a high level and more then half the teams in the league have a record of .500 or better. Who would have thought that through 5 weeks the Falcons would be 3-2 and have a better record then both the Eagles and Vikings? Here are my week 6 picks.

Game of the weak: Giants vs Browns: At the beginning of the season, this looked like a great matchup. Now the scoreboard will probably be very one sided.

Game of the week: Cowboys vs Cardinals: Every game that the Cardinals play turns into a shootout and both of these teams have explosive offenses. Don't be surprised if there is an upset brewing in the desert.

Last week: 6-8
Season: 41-33

Bears 21 Falcons 14
Dolphins 26 Texans 20
Ravens 13 Colts 21
Lions 14 Vikings 35
Raiders 17 Saints 21
Bengals 17 Jets 35
Panthers 20 Bucs 13
Rams 14 Redskins 42
Jaguars 27 Broncos 21
Cowboys 35 Cardinals 31
Eagles 21 49ers 26
Packers 23 Seahawks 17
Patriots 16 Chargers 20
Giants 38 Browns 13

Fbkid's Week 5 Fantasy Studs

Last week wasn't a great one for my fantasy studs as only Trent Edwards and Jonathan Stewart had decent days. I was way off on my prediction of the Jaguars defense as the Texans were throwing all over them and made Matt Schaub look like a hall of fame quarterback. Here are my week 5 fantasy studs and hopefully my predictions only get better from here.

QB: Brian Griese vs Broncos: Griese hasn't been that efficient this year as he has thrown 4 touchdowns to go along with 6 interceptions. On the bright side, Griese is putting up big time yards and in his 3 starts is averaging over 40 attempts a game. Now he plays the Denver defense who have had a hard time stopping any passing game. Griese could end up having a very efficient week. Expect around 240 yards and 2 touchdowns.

RB: Steve Slaton vs Colts: The Texans look like they have finally found a big play back in Slaton as he has showed lots of promise in his first two starts. Now he goes up against a banged up Colts defense that is coming off a game against the Jaguars where they allowed over 200 rushing yards. Slaton is also a very good receiver out of the backfield and showed why catching 8 passes last week. Slaton could have a very big week and with his upcoming schedule should be in your lineup for the next few weeks. Expect around 140 total yards and a touchdown.

WR: Lee Evans vs Cardinals: So far this season the Cardinals have lived and died by the big play and all Evans has done so far in his career is make big plays. Evans is one of the biggest deep threats in the game and now he goes up against a Cardinals defense that allowed 6 passing touchdowns last week. Expect around 110 yards and a touchdown.

TE: Anthony Fasano vs Chargers: Even though he has been one of the best tight ends in all of fantasy football, Fasano still isn't owned in a lot of leagues. After this week though, that shouldn't be the case. The Chargers are dead last in the league in pass defense and Fasano is one of Chad Pennington's favorite targets. Expect around 65 yards and a touchdown.

K: Matt Prater vs Buccaneers: Prater has been a surprise for the Broncos this year as he has become a very reliable kicker in his second year. He has a very strong leg and with the Broncos offense he should get plenty off opportunities to make fantasy owners happy. Expect around 3 extra points and 2 field goals.

Def: Carolina vs Chiefs: The Panthers defense is starting to look like a top unit once again and is a great start against a struggling Chiefs offense. If the Panthers contain Larry Johnson, they could have a huge day. Expect around 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.

Star to sit: Clinton Portis vs Eagles: Portis has been very efficient so far this year but could struggle against a very tough Eagles defense. The Eagles are only allowing 53 rushing yards a game and if you have better options, it might be smart to sit Portis this week.

Fbkid's Week 5 Predictions

Last week was a rough one as I went 6-7 on my picks. Many teams last week showed flaws that could potentially hurt them later on in the season. The Broncos have an explosive passing attack but if they want to make the playoffs, the defense needs to improve. They struggled against some of the league's top offenses such as the Saints and Chargers but when you allow 33 points to the Chiefs you know something is wrong. Here are my week 5 picks.

Game of the weak: Falcons vs Packers: If Aaron Rodgers isn't playing, this game should be very close but with two rookie quarterbacks starting, it could get ugly.

Game of the week: Redskins vs Eagles: The Redskins are now being taken seriously in the NFC after beating the Cowboys at home. But after losing in Chicago last week, the Eagles really need this win against a division rival.

Last week: 6-7
Season: 35-25

Titans 16 Ravens 10
Chiefs 13 Panthers 24
Bears 21 Lions 17
Falcons 14 Packers 17
Colts 20 Texans 24
Chargers 27 Dolphins 16
Seahawks 14 Giants 28
Redskins 21 Eagles 27
Buccaneers 21 Broncos 26
Bills 20 Cardinals 17
Bengals 16 Cowboys 35
Patriots 16 49ers 26
Steelers 17 Jaguars 23
Vikings 16 Saints 27
