Fbkid's Week 17 Predictions

Last week was an ok week as I went 9-7 on my picks. As the regular season comes to a close, the games get tougher to predict as teams like the Titans and Giants who have already clinched the number one seed and homefield advantage, have nothing to play for. Some teams though are still going to be giving it their all this week though as divisions like the AFC East and NFC South haven't been clinched yet. Here are my week 17 picks.

Game of the weak: Chiefs vs Bengals: Both of these teams have been playing better over the last few weeks but come April, both could end up having top 5 picks.

Game of the week: Dolphins vs Jets: Only a few weeks ago experts were already talking about the possibilites of a "Subway Superbowl" between the Jets and the Giants. Considering that both teams actually play in New Jersey and the Jets inability to beat bad teams on the road, it doesn't look like it's going to happen. The Dolphins are now the toast of the league going from a 1-15 record a year ago to contending for a division title. This game should have lots of drama (The Brett Favre last game card)and should come down to the wire. If the Jets lose, we get to see how much the New York media and fans really "love" Favre.

Last week: 9-7
Season: 144-96-1

Fbkid's Week 16 Predictions

Last week wasn't that great as I only went 8-8 on my picks. This is going to be a great week of football though as home field advantage for both the AFC and NFC will be determined by the outcome of two games. The Steelers Titans game should be won in the trenches and will be a battle of field position and the Panthers Giants game will be determined by which team can stop the run. Here are my week 16 picks.

Game of the weak: Bengals vs Browns: The starting quarterbacks for this game are Ryan Fitzpatrick and Ken Dorsey. Enough said.

Game of the week: Three way tie between Ravens vs Cowboys, Steelers vs Titans and Panthers vs Giants: All three of these games should go down to the wire and all have major playoff implications. This should make for one of the best weekends of regular season football in a long time.

Last Week: 8-8
Season: 135-89-1

Ravens 14 Cowboys 21
Bengals 24 Browns 17

Fbkid's Jaguars vs Colts Prediction

Usually I make all my picks at once but due to a busy schedule I'm just making my pick for the game tonight. My full picks will be posted tommorow afternoon.

The Colts have something to play for tonight and even though it will be an emotional game for the Jaguars, I think the Colts are too focused and pull it out.

Colts 28 Jaguars 14

Fbkid's Week 15 Predictions

Last week was a very good one for my picks as I went 13-3. The playoff picture is finally shaping up. Team's like the Titans, Giants and Cardinals have already clinched their divisions and the Titans even clinched a first round bye. The most interesting thing to watch will be how the AFC East and NFC South end up. Both of those divisions are extremely competitive and at most three teams can get in. Here are my week 15 predictions.

Game of the weak: Seahawks vs Rams: Heading into the year the Seahawks were one of the elite teams in the NFC and the Rams were going to push for a playoff spot. Now they are playing to avoid a top 5 pick.

Game of the week: Steelers vs Ravens: If you like "Smashmouth" football at it's best, then this game is for you. The winner controls their own destiny in the AFC North and I still don't understand why this game isn't on Sunday Night Football. The fans get to see the best game of the day and John Madden gets to gush about how great Hines Ward is. It's a win-win for everyone.

Last week: 13-3
Season: 127-81-1

Saints 20 Bears 24
Bucs 21 Falcons 26
Redskins 24 Bengals 10

Fbkid's Week 14 Predictions

Last week was another good one as I went 11-5 on my picks. As the playoff picture is starting to shape up, so are the biggest disappointments this year. Both the Jaguars and Chargers came into the year as teams that should contend for the Super Bowl. The Jaguars are now in position to finish in last place in the AFC South and the Chargers could fall into 3rd place if they lose to the Raiders tonight. Here are my week 14 picks.

Game of the weak: Raiders vs Chargers: I'm sure the NFL had different things in mind when scheduling this game but the realization now is that even though it's a rivalry game, it's two teams with below .500 records.

Game of the week: Bucs vs Panthers: This game will be very physical and should come down to the wire. The winner also controls their own destiny in the most underrated division in football, the NFC South.

Last week: 11-5
Season: 114-78-1

Raiders 14 Chargers 24
Jaguars 17 Bears 27
Vikings 31 Lions 14
Bengals 10 Colts 27

Fbkid's Week 13 Predictions

Last week I went 10-6 which continues my streak of decent weeks. It is very ironic how teams like the Patriots and Colts who were counted out at the beginning of the year are now back in the playoff picture. The Colts are now 7-4 and have a very easy schedule the rest of the way and even without Tom Brady the Patriots are also 7-4 and Matt Cassell has been playing like an All Pro the last couple of weeks. Here are my week 13 picks.

Game of the weak: Chiefs vs Raiders: This could be an exciting game to watch as lots of points could be scored. But at this point of the year, not much is at stake.

Game of the week: Giants vs Redskins: When these two teams played in week one, the Redskins looked very sloppy. Now, in the thick of the playoff race they can prove that they belong against the defending Super Bowl champs.

Last week: 10-6
Season: 103-73-1

Titans 31 Lions 20
Seahawks 14 Cowboys 35
Cardinals 27 Eagles 20
49ers 16 Bills 24
Ravens 23 Bengals 13

Fbkid's Week 12 Predictions

Last week was a very good one on my predictions as I went 11-4-1 and picked the exact score of the Titans Jaguars game. The playoff picture is now starting to shape up as teams are showing what they are really made of. At the beginning of the year everyone(myself included) was praising the Bills fast start to the season. But now they are 5-5 and in the AFC East are starting to slip away from contention. Here are my week 12 predictions.

Game of the weak: Bears vs Rams: Both teams are really struggling right now and if the Rams play like they did last week, it could get ugly.

Game of the week: Jets vs Titans: After their win on the road against the Patriots , the Jets are now considered one of the favorites in the AFC. But if they beat an undefeated Titans team on the road, let the Brett Favre media frenzy begin!

Last Week: 11-4-1
Season: 93-67-1

Bengals 14 Steelers 20
Eagles 17 Ravens 21
Texans 20 Browns 26
Bucs 30 Lions 17

Fbkid's Week 11 Predictions

Last week I got back on track as I went 10-4 on my picks last week. It was a turning point for a few teams as they are finally starting to look up to the preseason expectations they had. Both the Colts and Vikings are starting to heat up and are suddenly right back in the playoff picture. Another team who had high preseason expectations the Jaguars, are now at the stage where their season is on the line every week as they are 4-5 and the schedule doesn't get any easier. Here are my week 11 picks.

Game of the weak: Rams vs 49ers: Do you know how bad the NFC West is? The winner of this game will be in 2nd place in the division with a 3-7 record.

Game of the week: Ravens vs Giants: Going into the season fans would have noticed this as a rematch of Super Bowl 35 but who would have expected this to be a potential Super Bowl preview? We now get to see how Joe Flacco performs against a big time defense.

Last week: 10-4
Season: 82-62

Jets 17 Patriots 23
Broncos 24 Falcons 28
Lions 13 Panthers 31
Eagles 28 Bengals 14
Saints 31 Chiefs 24

Fbkid's Week 10 Fantasy Studs

Last week was a very interesting one for fantasy football as many of last weeks top players came out of nowhere. Not many people would have thought that Ray Rice, Cedric Benson and Jamaal Charles would have gone over 100 yards last week or that Koren Robinson would have had over 100 yards receiving. Here are my week 10 fantasy studs.

QB: Chad Pennington vs Seahawks: Pennington has played very well this season and he now goes up against the 31st ranked pass defense in the Seahawks. Don't be surprised if Pennington has one of the best fantasy weeks out of any quarterback. Expect around 230 yards and 2 touchdowns.

RB: Tim Hightower vs 49ers: What a difference a week makes. Last week at this time Hightower was a touchdown vulture taking away from Edgerrin James owners. Now he is one of the hottest commodities in fantasy football after his 100 yard 1 touchdown performance last week. Hightower could be in for another big week against a struggling 49ers defense and should be active in all leagues this week. Expect around 120 total yards and 2 touchdowns.

WR: Matt Jones vs Lions: Who would have thought at this time last year that Jones would be the Jaguars number one receiver? He should be in for a big game this week though as it's a must win for the Jaguars and the Lions are 29th against the pass. Expect around 85 yards and a touchdown.

TE: Donald Lee vs Vikings: Lee was one of the most productive tight ends in all of fantasy football last season but this season he hasn't been as productive. Lee should get back on track against a struggling Vikings pass defense this week though. Expect around 50 yards and a touchdown.

K: Neil Rackers vs 49ers: With the Cardinals explosive offense, Rackers should be in for a very big week on the national stage. Expect around 2 field goals and 4 extra points.

Def: Panthers vs Raiders: The Panthers defense is still available in many fantasy leagues and the way the Raiders offense is playing, it would be smart to be play any defens opposing them. Expect around 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.

Star to sit: Plaxico Burress vs Eagles: Burress has put up some great fantasy numbers this year but could be in for a rough week against a tough Eagles defense that is very good against the pass. He should still be started in all leagues, but don't expect great numbers.

Fbkid's Week 10 Predictions

Last week was a very rough one for my picks as I went only 6-8. Many interesting story lines have unfolded so far this season. Between the Titans quest for perfection, the Lions quest for another kind of perfection, success of rookie quarterbacks and the weekly soup opera that has become the Raiders, it's hard to not get caught up in one up to this point. Here are my week 10 picks.

Game of the weak: 49ers vs Cardinals: The Cardinals now have the chance to show everyone that they are for real on a national stage. The only problem is that it's on Monday night and the 49ers look terrible. Don's be surprised if Tony Kornheiser starts talking about how Matt Leinart should be in around the 2nd quarter.

Game of the week: Giants vs Eagles: Both of these teams are among the elite in the NFC and this game has a big impact on the NFC East. Don't be surprised if this is a conference championship game preview.

Last week: 6-8
Season: 72-58

Broncos 20 Browns 24
Saints 23 Falcons 27
Titans 20 Bears 14
Jaguars 17 Lions 23
Ravens 24 Texans 13

Bills 16 Patriots 24
Rams 17 Jets 27

Fbkid's Week 9 Predictions

Last week was a decent one as I went 8-6 on my picks. At the half way point, teams are really starting to show how they really are. Many people thought that the Titans were undefeated due to the easy schedule they had played. But that all changed once they beat the Colts at home on Monday Nght. Here are my week 9 picks.

Game of the weak: Jaguars vs Bengals: The Jaguars really need to win this game badly and the Bengals offense has had a hard time moving the ball with Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback.

Game of the week: Steelers vs Redskins: Both of these teams are considered among the best teams in the league. But the winner will be looked at as a possible Super Bowl contender the rest of the season.

Last Week: 8-6
Season: 66-50

Jets 17 Bills 23
Lions 16 Bears 27
Jaguars 24 Bengals 13
Ravens 17 Browns 21

Fbkid's Monday Morning Quarterback

Usually I don't have the chance to do an article about the happenings in all of Sunday's games so here is a special editon of my thoughts on what happened this week in the NFL.

When Shaun Rogers wants to play, he is a monster. It is rare that a defensive tackle stands out and has that big an impact on the entire game. Rogers had 9 tackles along with a sack, a blocked field goal and he also recovered the blocked field goal. He also helped the Browns hold Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew to 53 yards on 20 carries. Overall the Browns defense is a very underrated unit and players like Rogers, D'Qwell Jackson, Sean Jones and Eric Wright could be getting free trips to Hawaii in the next few years. Derek Anderson also made some big time throws including a 53 yard pass to Syndric Steptoe between two defenders.

What a difference a year makes for Matt Jones. A year ago Jaguars fans are calling for his head and wanting him out of town. Now they are praying they throw the ball to him when the game comes down to the wire. Even though he could miss 3 games for his incident this offseason, Jones has been one of the most improved players in the league this season. Fans are also wondering where Jerry Porter is. The team signed Porter to a 6 year deal worth $30 million. So far this season he only has 1 catch for 6 yards in 4 games. With every passing game, fans think he will breakout, here is the slogan for his stay in Jacksonville. "The Jerry Porter Era: Maybe Next Week" Porter has the potential to make a huge impact for the Jaguars but so far he has made the teams signing of Hugh Douglas 5 years ago look like a bargin.

While many of the AFC's powers struggle this year, don't be surprised if the Texans emerge as a potential wild card. They are getting hot at the right time and due to how tough the AFC South was last year they are playing a last place schedule. If Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub continue to play this well, the offense is going to be hard to stop.

While most people look for players out of big conferences such as the SEC and Pac-10 to become stars at the next level, Conference USA is very quietly having a big impact this year on the league. Rookies such as Chris Johnson(East Carolina), Matt Forte(Tulane) and Donnie Avery(Houston) have become big play threats and key weapons for there team. That's not all though as David Garrard(East Carolina), Brandon Marshall(UCF) and Asante Samuel(UCF)have also played well this year.

With many of the league's receivers lashing at their coaches and starting trouble in the media, it's time that some of the league's most underrated receivers get their due. Roddy White has very quitely been one of the most productive receivers in the league this year as he is 3rd in the league with 679 yards. White also has 43 receptions along with 5 touchdowns and that's with a rookie quarterback throwing him the ball. White and Matt Ryan could be one of the league's elite tandems in the next few years. Another receiver is Anquan Boldin. While most people got caught up in the Chad Johnson circus this offseason, Boldin wanted a bigger contract as well. But unlike Johnson, Boldin didn't legally change his last name and is putting his money where his mouth is. In 5 games, Boldin has 36 catches 429 yards and is one of the league leaders with 7 touchdowns. With those kind of numbers, it's about time for Boldin to get payed.

The Steelers offensive line is really going to have to improve. Ben Roethisberger got sacked 5 times against the Giants and was hit even more. While many people praised the Steelers draft in April, they didn't need to take glorified positions such as running back and wide receiver in the first two rounds. Instead, they should have added offensive line depth as right now Rashard Mendenhall is out for the season and Limas Sweed has only played one game and has 3 catches for 28 yards.

The Redskins need to learn how to put teams away. They outgained the Lions 439 to 274 in total yards but that didn't show up in the scoreboard only winning 25-17. Yes, a win is a win but the Lions shouldn't have been in that game in the 4th quarter. Especially with the way Jason Campbell was throwing the ball.

The Jets aren't as good as people think. When you are playing the Chiefs at home and you think that you a contender that is a game you need to win in a big way. The game can't be decided in the last minute like it was. They were outplayed for the majority of the game. If Tyler Thigpen plays like he did on Sunday though, the Chiefs are going to be in a lot of games as they have lots of young talent.

Mike Singletary made the right move sending Vernon Davis to the locker room. This was made into a really big deal by many in the national media. But it was a very good move by Singletary. He is trying to show them how to play the game the way he does and he is an admitted "old school" guy so don't be surprised if this happens a game. Singletary also tried to show a message to his players that what Davis did isn't acceptable and won't be tolerated for the rest of the season. If Singletary had his way, he would probably give the ball to Frank Gore 25 times a game and have Patrick Willis and the defense do the rest. With J.T. O'Sullivan at quarterback, that is a very good strategy for the team to win games but with Mike Martz calling the plays, it is very unlikely.

Fbkid's Week 8 Fantasy Studs

Last week was a very good one for my fantasy studs as Matt Schaub, Mewelde Moore and Bernard Berrian all had big games. That keeps the streak of good weeks alive and hopefully it will continue this week. Here are my week 8 fantasy studs.

QB: Trent Edwards vs Dolphins: Edwards has been one of the league's biggest surprises this year and should have another big game against a poor Dolphins pass defense. Expect around 240 yards and 2 touchdowns.

RB: Thomas Jones vs Chiefs: Jones has already tripled his touchdown total from a year ago and should continue to pile on the numbers against a Chiefs rush defense that allowed 300 yards rushing last week to the Titans. Expect around 140 total yards and 2 touchdowns.

WR: Braylon Edwards vs Jaguars: Aside from one game, Edwards hasn't really done much this season. That can all change against the Jaguars though who have had a very hard time covering the pass. Expect around 90 yards and a touchdown.

TE: Owen Daniels vs Bengals: Daniels has very quietly been one of the best fantasy tight ends this year. He could have another big day against a Bengals defense that has struggled this year. Expect around 60 yards and a touchdown.

K: Josh Scobee vs Browns: The Jaguars offense has struggled getting in the end zone this year and the Browns have a very underrated defense. With that being said, Scobee should get plenty of field goal opportunities. Expect around 3 field goals and 2 extra points.

DEF: 49ers vs Seahawks: When you are playing a team starting Seneca Wallace at quarterback, you know you are in for a big game on defense. Expect around 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.

Star to sit: Michael Turner vs Eagles: Turner has been excellent so far this season but he could be in for a rough game against the Eagles. The Eagles will be blitzing Matt Ryan like crazy and will probably put 8 in the box forcing Ryan to beat them. Turner could have a decent day, but don't expect his usual numbers.

Fbkid's Week 8 Predictions

Last week I went 9-5 which is another decent week for the way things have been so far. So far the season has been very unpredictable as teams are coming out of nowhere each week. A few weeks ago the Rams were arguably the worst team in the league. Now after they fired Scott Linehan, they have beaten the Redskins and the Cowboys. Both who were considered elite teams. Here are my week 8 picks.

Game of the weak: Seahawks vs 49ers: The starting quarterbacks in this game are going to be J.T. O'Sullivan and Seneca Wallace. Enough said.

Game of the week: Giants vs Steelers: Both of these teams are among the best in the league and with the way things are going this could be a preview of the Super Bowl.

Last week: 9-5
Season: 58-44

Raiders 10 Ravens 17
Cardinals 21 Panthers 26
Bucs 21 Cowboys 16
Redskins 27 Lions 17

Fbkid's Week 7 Fantasy Studs

Last week was a decent one for my fantasy studs as Steve Breaston had a big game and Joseph Addai didn't do much against the Ravens defense before he got injured. The last few weeks have been good for me though and hopefully it will continue this week. Here are my week 7 fantasy studs.

QB: Matt Schaub vs Lions: Schaub has done very well his last couple games and that shouldn't change against the Lions defense. Schaub looks like he is starting to connect with Andre Johnson again which will really help his value considering Johnson is one of the best receivers in the league. Schaub won't be the only one benefiting from the matchup as Steve Slaton and Owen Daniels are also good starts this week. Expect around 270 yards and 3 touchdowns.

RB: Mewelde Moore vs Bengals: With Willie Parker out, Moore will be getting the majority of carries this week against a struggling Bengals defense. Moore is available in most leagues and could do very well in points per reception leagues. Expect around 110 total yards and a touchdown.

WR: Bernard Berrian vs Bears: Surprisingly, Berrian isn't owned in some leagues but has been one of the best fantasy receivers over the last couple of weeks. Look for Berrian to have another big game against his former team. Expect around 90 yards and a touchdown.

TE: Dustin Keller vs Raiders: Keller has only caught 6 passes this year but 2 of them have been for touchdowns. He may not put up big numbers but he could have a solid week as the Jets will pass the ball early and often against the Raiders. Expect around 30 yards and a touchdown.

K: Matt Bryant vs Seahawks: Bryant has been very consistent so far this year and with the way the Seahawks defense is playing, he could have a very good fantasy game. Expect around 3 field goals and 3 extra points.

Def: Dolphins vs Ravens: The Dolphins defense has played OK this year but if the Ravens offense plays anything like last week, the Dolphins could be in for a big day. Expect around 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.

Star to sit: Julius Jones vs Buccaneers: Jones has been pretty productive this year but could struggle against a Bucs defense that ranks 9th in the league against the run. If you have other options this week, it might be worth considering starting them over Jones.

Fbkid's Week 7 Predictions

Last week I went 8-6 on my picks which is solid for the way things have been going. Many games went down to the final seconds last week and it just continues to show how competitive the league is right now. Who would have thought that the Falcons who picked in the top 3 picks of this year's draft would be tied for first in the NFC south and in the middle of the playoff hunt. Here are my week 7 picks.

Game of the weak: Ravens vs Dolphins: If you are a fan of high scoring games, this one isn't for you.

Game of the week: Chargers vs Bills: The Chargers are on the rise and if the Bills win they will prove themselves as a contender in the AFC.

Last week: 8-6
Season: 49-39

Chargers 20 Bills 24
Saints 17 Panthers 21
Vikings 14 Bears 17
Steelers 31 Bengals 16
Titans 24 Chiefs 10
Ravens 13 Dolphins 16
49ers 14 Giants 31
Cowboys 20 Rams 14
Lions 13 Texans 24
Colts 28 Packers 24
Jets 17 Raiders 14
Browns 16 Redskins 24
Seahawks 10 Bucs 27
Broncos 24 Patriots 20

Fbkid's Week 6 Fantasy Studs

Last week many of my fantasy studs had big games like Steve Slaton, Lee Evans, Matt Prater and the Panthers defense. Here are my week 6 fantasy studs and hopefully they put up the same kind of numbers as last weeks.

QB: Gus Frerotte vs Lions: Frerotte isn't owned in many leagues but he could have a very big game against a poor Lions secondary. Frerotte is also building a very good chemisty with Bernard Berrian so don't be surprised if he has a big day. Expect around 240 yards and 2 touchdowns.

RB: Le'Ron McClain vs Colts: So far this year the Colts have really struggled with the run and with a rookie quarterback, the Ravens will rely on it Sunday. Both McClain and Willis McGahee are very good options but McClain seems to be getting the goalline touches. Expect around 85 yards and a touchdown.

WR: Steve Breaston vs Cowboys: Since Anquan Boldin got hurt,Breaston has emerged as a solid fantasy option. He should have another good game against a struggling Cowboys pass defense. Expect around 75 yards and a touchdown.

TE: Greg Olsen vs Falcons: Olsen's stats have improved over the course of each game and this one should be no different as the Falcons have struggled with tight ends. Olsen should be available in many leagues and could be a very good option this week. Expect around 65 yards and a touchdown.

K: Shaun Suisham vs Rams: The Redskins should put up plenty of points against the Rams and nobody benefits more then Suisham. Suisham may not get many field goal opportunities, but he will certainly get extra points. Expect around 5 extra points and a field goal.

Def: Jets vs Bengals: This game had the making to be a shootout but with Ryan Fitzpatrick now starting for the Bengals, that changes things. The Jets are now a very good defensive option and are available in many leagues. Expect around 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.

Star to sit: Joseph Addai vs Ravens: Unless you have lots of other options, you probably won't sit Addai who was one of the first running backs of the board on draft day. If you start him though, don't expect big numbers as the Ravens defense is back and they are one of the best in the league against the run.

Fbkid's Week 6 Predictions

Last week was very rough as I went only 6-8 on my picks. That shows that the league is more balanced then it has been for a while. Many teams are playing at a high level and more then half the teams in the league have a record of .500 or better. Who would have thought that through 5 weeks the Falcons would be 3-2 and have a better record then both the Eagles and Vikings? Here are my week 6 picks.

Game of the weak: Giants vs Browns: At the beginning of the season, this looked like a great matchup. Now the scoreboard will probably be very one sided.

Game of the week: Cowboys vs Cardinals: Every game that the Cardinals play turns into a shootout and both of these teams have explosive offenses. Don't be surprised if there is an upset brewing in the desert.

Last week: 6-8
Season: 41-33

Bears 21 Falcons 14

Fbkid's Week 5 Fantasy Studs

Last week wasn't a great one for my fantasy studs as only Trent Edwards and Jonathan Stewart had decent days. I was way off on my prediction of the Jaguars defense as the Texans were throwing all over them and made Matt Schaub look like a hall of fame quarterback. Here are my week 5 fantasy studs and hopefully my predictions only get better from here.

QB: Brian Griese vs Broncos: Griese hasn't been that efficient this year as he has thrown 4 touchdowns to go along with 6 interceptions. On the bright side, Griese is putting up big time yards and in his 3 starts is averaging over 40 attempts a game. Now he plays the Denver defense who have had a hard time stopping any passing game. Griese could end up having a very efficient week. Expect around 240 yards and 2 touchdowns.

RB: Steve Slaton vs Colts: The Texans look like they have finally found a big play back in Slaton as he has showed lots of promise in his first two starts. Now he goes up against a banged up Colts defense that is coming off a game against the Jaguars where they allowed over 200 rushing yards. Slaton is also a very good receiver out of the backfield and showed why catching 8 passes last week. Slaton could have a very big week and with his upcoming schedule should be in your lineup for the next few weeks. Expect around 140 total yards and a touchdown.

WR: Lee Evans vs Cardinals: So far this season the Cardinals have lived and died by the big play and all Evans has done so far in his career is make big plays. Evans is one of the biggest deep threats in the game and now he goes up against a Cardinals defense that allowed 6 passing touchdowns last week. Expect around 110 yards and a touchdown.

TE: Anthony Fasano vs Chargers: Even though he has been one of the best tight ends in all of fantasy football, Fasano still isn't owned in a lot of leagues. After this week though, that shouldn't be the case. The Chargers are dead last in the league in pass defense and Fasano is one of Chad Pennington's favorite targets. Expect around 65 yards and a touchdown.

K: Matt Prater vs Buccaneers: Prater has been a surprise for the Broncos this year as he has become a very reliable kicker in his second year. He has a very strong leg and with the Broncos offense he should get plenty off opportunities to make fantasy owners happy. Expect around 3 extra points and 2 field goals.

Def: Carolina vs Chiefs: The Panthers defense is starting to look like a top unit once again and is a great start against a struggling Chiefs offense. If the Panthers contain Larry Johnson, they could have a huge day. Expect around 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.

Star to sit: Clinton Portis vs Eagles: Portis has been very efficient so far this year but could struggle against a very tough Eagles defense. The Eagles are only allowing 53 rushing yards a game and if you have better options, it might be smart to sit Portis this week.

Fbkid's Week 5 Predictions

Last week was a rough one as I went 6-7 on my picks. Many teams last week showed flaws that could potentially hurt them later on in the season. The Broncos have an explosive passing attack but if they want to make the playoffs, the defense needs to improve. They struggled against some of the league's top offenses such as the Saints and Chargers but when you allow 33 points to the Chiefs you know something is wrong. Here are my week 5 picks.

Game of the weak: Falcons vs Packers: If Aaron Rodgers isn't playing, this game should be very close but with two rookie quarterbacks starting, it could get ugly.

Game of the week: Redskins vs Eagles: The Redskins are now being taken seriously in the NFC after beating the Cowboys at home. But after losing in Chicago last week, the Eagles really need this win against a division rival.

Last week: 6-7
Season: 35-25

Titans 16 Ravens 10
Chiefs 13 Panthers 24
Bears 21 Lions 17
Falcons 14 Packers 17
Colts 20 Texans 24
Chargers 27 Dolphins 16
Seahawks 14 Giants 28
Redskins 21 Eagles 27
Buccaneers 21 Broncos 26
Bills 20 Cardinals 17
Bengals 16 Cowboys 35
Patriots 16 49ers 26
Steelers 17 Jaguars 23
Vikings 16 Saints 27

Fbkid's Week 4 Fantasy Studs

Last week I was right on with Julius Jones and J.T. O'Sullivan as they both had pretty big days. The players who were waiver wire sensations in week one are now starting to establish how they are really going to play the rest of the season. This is also the first week that owners are affected by bye weeks and it should be interesting to see how owners with players such as Peyton Manning and Calvin Johnson react. I have also added a new thing which is star to sit. That is my prediction of somebody who is usually starting for most fantasy owners on a weekly basis but won't fair very well against that weeks opponent. Here are my week 4 fantasy studs.

QB: Trent Edwards vs Rams: The Rams have had trouble stopping anyone so far this season and Edwards has looked very impressive so far. The more shocking thing is, he hasn't even been picked up in a lot of leagues. Look for other Bills players such as Lee Evans and Marshawn Lynch to have big days as well. Expect around 230 yards and 2 touchdowns this week.

RB: Jonathan Stewart vs Falcons: Stewart has looked very impressive early on in his rookie season and should have a career game against a weak Falcons rush defense. He may not put up huge yards, but he does get the goalline carries. Expect around 90 yards and 1 touchdown.

WR: Braylon Edwards vs Bengals: Many fantasy owners have given up on most Browns players and for good reason. The offense was supposed to be one of the most explosive in all of football. But last year the Browns offense was struggling early on as well and everything changed when they played the Bengals and the two teams combined for 96 points. The teams probably won't score this much but it should be a shootout none the less. Edwards should have a huge game and show owners why he is one of the best receivers in the league. Expect around 130 yards and a touchdown.

TE: Vernon Davis vs Saints: With 6 teams on bye, people will be looking to replace tight ends such as Dallas Clark and Anthony Fasano. That is where Davis comes in the picture. Davis is available in many leagues and even though he hasn't lived up to expectations so far could fair well in a potential shootout against the Saints. Look for Davis to perform well this week and if he doesn't, he will probably be back on the waiver wire again. Expect around 70 yards and a touchdown.

K: Shayne Graham vs Browns: The Bengals are in almost the exact same situation as the Browns and with this game both teams players have the potential to get back in fantasy owners good graces. Graham should fair very well also as even though he may not get many field goal chances, extra points add up fast. Expect around 2 field goals and 4 extra points.

Def: Jaguars vs Texans: The Jaguars historically struggle against the Texans but with the way the Texans have been playing lately, the Jaguars are a must start. Expect around 3 sacks, 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery.

Star to sit: Ben Roethlisberger vs Ravens: While Roethlisberger has been solid so far and was considered a top 5 fantasy quarterback entering the season, it would be smart not to start him. That is because the Ravens defense is back. Roethlisberger has been getting tons of pressure so far this year and the Ravens defense is getting back to it's early 2000's form. Roethlisberger may still have a decent game, but fantasy owners should get their hopes set too high.

Fbkid's Week 4 Predictions

Finally I got back from a slow start going 12-4 in week 3. Last week a couple teams showed the league what they could be made of. Everyone knew that the Jaguars season was on the line last week and they saved it with a huge road win in Indianapolis. Who would have thought that the Ravens would be leading the AFC North through 3 weeks? Let alone with a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback. But with the Lions deciding to fire Matt Millen this week it just goes to show you that in this league, anything is possible. Here are my week 4 picks.

Game of the weak: Browns vs Bengals: The winner of this one gets the first win for the state of Ohio. This could end up being a very entertaining game though as the first match up last year against the Bengals is when the Browns offense started heating up.

Game of the week: Vikings vs Titans: It's funny how similar these two teams are. Both are excellent against the run, have an explosive ground game and benched their one time quarterbacks of the future for journeyman. This is going to be a grind it out game that will be a battle of field position.

Last week: 12-4
Season: 29-18

Falcons 13 Panthers 23
Browns 24 Bengals 31
Texans 16 Jaguars 21
Broncos 35 Chiefs 20
49ers 24 Saints 27
Cardinals 24 Jets 20
Packers 21 Bucs 14
Vikings 13 Titans 17
Chargers 31 Raiders 17
Bills 31 Rams 10
Redskins 16 Cowboys 31
Eagles 20 Bears 10
Ravens 17 Steelers 13

Fbkid's Week 3 Rookie Power Rankings

Last week I introduced my first ever rookie power rankings. Many rookies made an even bigger impact this week. Here are my rookie power rankings heading into week 3.

1. Eddie Royal WR Broncos: After playing huge roles in defeating the Chargers and Raiders, Royal will never have to worry about buying a drink in Denver again. Royal is one of the biggest surprises of the season so far and if he keeps playing at this level and the Broncos continue to win, look for Royal to be the front runner for the Rookie of the year award. Last Week:2

2. Matt Forte RB Bears: Forte had another solid effort in week 2 with 92 rushing yards and leads all rookies in rushing. Kyle Orton has done a solid job of managing games and that is all he has to do for Forte to continue having a big impact. Last Week:1

3. Darren McFadden RB Raiders: McFadden showed why he was a top 5 pick last week as he ran for over 165 yards and a touchdown. He is averaging a remarkable 7 yards a carry but when Tiki Barber says you have fumbling problems, that is a concern. Last Week:10

4. Chris Johnson RB Titans: Johnson has been the most consistent rookie so far running for 93 and 109 yards in his first two NFL games. He showed off his speed last week as he had a 51 yard run against the Bengals. Look for Johnson to be in the hunt for Rookie of the Year honors throughout the season. Last Week:3

5. DeSean Jackson WR Eagles: Even though most people are talking about what Jackson didn't do on Monday Night, he still had a very good game. Jackson had 110 yards on 6 catches and unlike Royal has over 100 yards in both games. Fantasy owners may be mad at Jackson but as long as he keeps making big plays, the Eagles will be very happy. Last Week:4

6. Felix Jones RB Cowboys: It would be hard for anyone to top McFadden's performance last week but his college teammate Jones came pretty close. Jones took a kick return 98 yards for a touchdown and showed everyone around the country that the Cowboys have found a special player. Look for Jones to start getting more carries as the year goes on as well. Last Week:6

7. Jonathan Stewart RB Panthers: Stewart had a very big game in week 2 as he had 77 yards and 2 touchdowns. So far the duo of Stewart and DeAngelo Williams has looked very good and with the return of Steve Smith to the passing game, it should be even more effective. Last Week: NR

8. Matt Ryan QB Falcons: Ryan's second NFL start wasn't nearly as good as his first but that's part of the experience. Ryan threw 2 interceptions and didn't even complete 40 percent of his passes last week against the Bucs. Look for Ryan to bounce back though as he has the potential to be an elite quarterback in the league. Last Week:5

9. Keith Rivers LB Bengals: Rivers continues to be one of the few Bengals bright spots this season as he has 18 tackles through 2 games. Look for him to continue making a huge impact on a Bengals defense that has struggled so far this year. Last Week:8

10. John Carlson TE Seahawks: Like Rivers, Carlson has been one of his teams few bright spots. He should continue to make a big impact while the receiving corps are banged up. Carlson could end up being one of the darkhorses to win the award. Last Week:NR

On the bubble: Rashard Mendenhall RB Steelers, Sedrick Ellis DT Saints, Jerod Mayo LB Patriots, Ray Rice RB Ravens, Tim Hightower RB Cardinals, Jamaal Charles RB Chiefs, Kenny Phillips S Giants, Steve Slaton RB Texans, Joe Flacco QB Ravens, Kevin Smith RB Lions, Lawrence Jackson DE Seahawks

Fbkid's Week 3 Fantasy Studs

Last week was a very good one for my predictions as I was right about Aaron Rodgers, Calvin Johnson and the Giants D. If you are reading this don't expect to see players like Tony Romo and LaDainian Tomlinson though. Considering you drafted them in the first 3 rounds, it isn't necessary to question starting them. Here are my fantasy studs for this week.

QB: J.T. O'Sullivan vs Lions: O'Sullivan had his first career 300 yard game last week and should build on that this week against the Lions. Mike Martz is playing his ex team and will be out to prove a point. This game should be a shootout and O'Sullivan will be throwing early and often. Expect around 340 yards and 2 touchdowns.

RB: Julius Jones vs Rams: Jones finally got a full work load last week and had a huge game last week with over 125 yards and a touchdown. Now he plays the Rams who have had a very hard time stopping anyone let alone the run. Expect around 135 total yards and a touchdown.

WR: Lee Evans vs Raiders: So far teams have had success passing against the Raiders this year and Evans has been pretty consistent so far this year. Look for Evans to have a big game this week. Expect around 110 yards and a touchdown.

TE: John Carlson vs Rams: Carlson has been one of the few positives for the Seahawks so far this season. With the receiving corps still hurting, look for Carlson to make a big impact. Expect around 70 yards and a touchdown.

K: Jason Hanson vs 49ers: Yes, this game will be that high scoring. Expect around 2 field goals and 4 extra points.

Def: Cardinals vs Redskins: The Cardinals defense has played pretty well this season and they should give the Redskins fits on Sunday. Expect around 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.

Fbkid's Week 3 Predictions

So far it has been a rough year on my picks as I only went 9-6 last week. It has been a very hard season to predict so far as teams like the Broncos who were suppposed to struggle this season are 2-0 while the Chargers who were Super Bowl favorites are now 0-2. Here are my week 3 picks and hopefully I can get back on track.

Game of the weak: Chiefs vs Falcons: If Michael Turner had a good time running through the Lions, now he gets a defense that just let up 160 yards to Darren McFadden.

Game of the week: Cowboys vs Packers: Aaron Rodgers has looked great so far but now it's time to see how he matches up against one of the best teams in the league.

Last week:9-6
Season:17-14

Chiefs 10 Falcons 21
Raiders 14 Bills 24
Bucs 16 Bears 20
Panthers 24 Vikings 17
Dolphins 13 Patriots 24
Bengals 13 Giants 28
Texans 16 Titans 24
Cardinals 24 Redskins 21

Fbkid's Week 2 Fantasy Studs

Last week was a very tough week to predict for fantasy owners as many players made bigger impacts then projected. Who would have thought that Willie Parker would score more touchdowns in week one then he did all of last year? Or that Eddie Royal would be leading the league in receiving yards after week one. Here are some players that I think will have a very big impact in your league this week.

Quarterback : Aaron Rodgers vs Lions: Rodgers faired very well in his first NFL start against a very tough Vikings defense. Now he plays the Lions who allowed 156 yards passing on only 13 attempts last week against a rookie quarterback in Matt Ryan. Look for Rodgers to put up some big numbers this week. Expect around 200 passing yards and 3 touchdowns.

Running back: Chris Johnson vs Bengals: Johnson had an excellent NFL debut against a solid Jaguars defense and now he goes against one of the worst in the Bengals. With Kerry Collins starting for the injured Vince Young, look for Johnson to have a bigger impact on the passing game as well. Expect around 150 total yards and a touchdown.

Wide receiver: Calvin Johnson vs Packers: Johnson was one of the Lions lone bright spots against the Falcons and should continue to shine this week. Plus if the Lions defense plays anything like they did last week, Johnson will have lots of garbage time to pad his stats. Johnson will also be going up against Al Harris and we all know how he faired in the playoffs against big receivers. Expect around 120 yards and a touchdown.

Tight end: Jeremy Shockey vs Redskins: With Marques Colston hurt, Shockey will be the number one target for Drew Brees the next few weeks. Look for Shockey to put up some big numbers in a high scoring Saints passing attack. Expect around 80 yards and a touchdown.

Kicker: Neil Rackers vs Dolphins: It may not look that good on paper, but this could end up being one of the best games of the day and Rackers should have his share in deciding the outcome. Expect around 3 extra points and 2 field goals.

Defense: Giants vs Rams: The Giants defense didn't put up a huge statline against the Redskins last week, but that shouldn't stop them against the Rams. The Rams have lots of problems up front and Justin Tuck should get at least 2 sacks. Expect around 2 interceptions, 5 sacks and a fumble recovery.

Reminder: With the postponement of the Ravens Texans game due to Hurricane Ike, you need to remove all players from both teams as it is considered their bye week.

Fbkid's Rookie Power Rankings

With the impact rookies had last week on week one, I thought it would be a good idea to put together my rookie power rankings. This will be updated each week until the Rookies of the year are decided.

1. Matt Forte RB Bears: Many people thought Forte would have an early impact, but nobody thought he would play like he did against the Colts. Forte ran for 123 yards on 23 carries including a 50 yard touchdown. Look for Forte to have another big game against the Panthers this week.

2. Eddie Royal WR Broncos: Royal had the most surprising performance out of any rookie in week one. Royal shined on the national stage torching the Raiders for 146 yards on 9 receptions along with a touchdown. Look for Royal to continue playing well but don't expect those kind of stats each week.

3. Chris Johnson RB Titans: When the Titans selected Johnson in the first round in April's draft, many people were criticizing the Titans for not drafting a receiver. Well so far Johnson is doing a good job of proving them wrong. Johnson had 93 rushing yards in his NFL debut along with 34 receiving yards and a touchdown. Look for Johnson to have another huge week against the Bengals in week two.

4. DeSean Jackson WR Eagles: This offseason, Donovan McNabb wanted the Eagles to bring in some more playmakers. From the looks of things, they found one in Jackson. Jackson had 6 catches for 106 yards in his NFL debut and also had 97 return yards including a 60 yard punt return. Look for Jackson to continue having a big impact on the Eagles offense.

5. Matt Ryan QB Falcons: Even though it was against the Lions defense, Ryan looked very sharp in his NFL debut going 9 of 13 for 161 yards and a touchdown. Ryan was very sharp and looked poised in the pocket. If the Falcons continue winning, look for Ryan to be in serious contention for Rookie of the year.

6. Felix Jones RB Cowboys: From watching "Hard Knocks" this season, it looked like Felix Jones would be a star in the making. After seeing his NFL debut, it doesn't seem that far fetched. On 9 carries Jones ran for 62 yards and a touchdown. Look for Jones to continue making a big impact by complimenting Marion Barber as they make up one of the best 1-2 punches in the league.

7. Joe Flacco QB Ravens: Don't turn the ball over:check, Beat a division rival at home in your NFL debut: check. For those two reasons, Ravens fans are now wacko for Flacco. Flacco was solid throwing for 129 yards and 15 completions including a 38 yard touchdown run that will be shown on highlight reels throughout the season. If Flacco continues to not turn the ball over, the Ravens could become a darkhorse in the AFC.

8. Keith Rivers LB Bengals: Even though he missed most of training camp, Rivers put up big numbers in his NFL debut. He led the team with 10 tackles and showed the ability and instincts that should make him a leader of the Bengals defense for years to come.

9. Kevin Smith RB Lions: Smith didn't have Matt Forte like numbers in his NFL debut, but he showed why he could have a big impact as a rookie this season. Smith ran for 48 yards and a touchdown in his NFL debut and also added 4 receptions for 32 yards. With the lack of competition in the backfield, Smith should be getting the majority of the carries this season.

10. Darren McFadden RB Raiders: McFadden was expected right away to come in and have a huge impact. He was solid though as he ran for 46 yards on 9 carries. With the way the Raiders offense struggled last week, look for them to get McFadden the ball early and often this week. He has nowhere to go but up on the list.

On the bubble: Jonathan Stewart RB Panthers, Rashard Mendenhall RB Steelers, Sedrick Ellis DT Saints, Jerod Mayo LB Patriots, Ray Rice RB Ravens, Tim Hightower RB Cardinals, Jamaal Charles RB Chiefs, Kenny Phillips S Giants, Steve Slaton RB Texans

Fbkid's Week 2 Predictions

Overall it was a tough week one as many teams that were predicted to be contenders went down. The Jaguars,Colts and Chargers now have to rebound after week one losses. With the key losses on the offensive line on a run oriented team, the Jaguars could have trouble getting back on track and could be a .500 team. Last week wasn't that great for predictions as I went 8-8 straight up and 7-9 against the spread. I'll consider that my preseason week. Here are my picks for week two.

Game of the weak: Raiders vs Chiefs: The Chiefs offense is more balanced with Damon Huard at the helm now, but that doesn't exactly result in more points. It should be a low scoring game and the loser should be in early contention for a top 3 pick.

Game of the week: Eagles vs Cowboys: The winner of the game will take control of the very tough NFC East and will most likely be considered the favorite to win the NFC.

Fbkid's Week 1 Predictions Part 2

It was great last night to see that football is finally back. I started off my predictions on a good note taking the Giants to win at home. Here are the rest of my week one picks and I hope you enjoy the first weekend of NFL football!

Game of the week: Cowboys vs Browns: Both teams have lots of question marks to open the season and we should get our first look of both teams in this week one shootout.

Game of the weak: Bengals vs Ravens: A few years ago this is a huge game. This year, both teams are trying to stay out of the AFC North cellar.

Fbkid's Week 1 Predictions Part 1

Football is finally back. Ever since the Super Bowl ended, millions have anticipated this moment. Each week I will give my predictions for each game and my fantasy studs. But with just one game tonight, I will just be giving a preview of the showdown between the Giants and Redskins tonight. Here's to a great season of football!

The Giants are coming off one of the greatest Super Bowl wins in history and with lots of key losses due to retirement, free agency and injuries, it will be hard to repeat again. The offense should be very effective though as if Eli Manning plays anything like he did in the playoffs, the Giants should be in good shape to win. Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw should attack with the Redskins defense with an affective 1-2 punch at running back. After Jacobs softens the defense with his bruising running style, Bradshaw should have plenty of holes to run through. Plaxico Burress also had a great postseason but his ankle is still bothering him. Burress is still Manning's go-to-guy though and should have a big game. Even with the loss of Osi Umenyiora for the season, the defense is still in good shape. Justin Tuck is turning into one of the premiere pass rushers in the league and Antonio Pierce is still a force at linebacker. Look for rookie Kenny Phillips to have a big impact at safety as he showed why he was worthy of a first round pick in the preseason.

The Redskins surprised lots of people last year and ended up getting into the 2nd round of the playoffs. Jason Campbell was improving before his season ending injury and should continue to develop in Jim Zorn's new offense. Clinton Portis is the team's workhorse and is one of the most consistent backs in the league. If the Redskins don't establish Portis, it will be very hard for them to win tonight. Santana Moss has also been inconsistent at receiver and will need to step up if the run game is struggling. Chris Cooley is one of the most consistent tight ends in the league and is my fantasy stud of the game. If the Giants pass rush gets to Campbell, Cooley will be thrown to early and often. Jason Taylor was a big offseason acquisition but most likely won't be playing tonight. London Fletcher is one of the most consistent linebackers in the league though and will need to play that much harder to replace the loss of Taylor. The secondary was very effective last year as Carlos Rogers and LaRon Landry showed last year that the future is bright. Look for them to both have big impacts tonight.

The Redskins have the ability to play with the Giants but the game will be won at the line of scrimmage and that favors the Giants. My prediction is Redskins 14 Giants 23.

Fbkid's NFC Preview

The Giants did a great job of representing the NFC in the Super Bowl as they pulled off an incredible upset over the Patriots. Lots of teams are closing in on the Giants though as teams like the Cowboys, Seahawks and Saints are all contenders this season. Like last year the NFC should be in for a crazy and exciting season.

Arizona Cardinals: The last few years the Cardinals have been projected to breakout and become a playoff team. While it hasn't happened yet, the Cardinals should breakout soon. After Matt Leinart got hurt in week 5, Kurt Warner came in and had a great season as he had 3417 passing yards and 17 touchdowns. Leinart is supposed to be the quarterback of the future for the Cardinals but Warner has outperformed him so far. Edgerrin James had a solid year with 1222 yards and 7 touchdowns. James is starting to decline so look for 5th round pick Tim Hightower to make a big impact as well. Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin give the Cardinals one of the best receiving tandems in the league. Fitzgerald had another great year with 100 catches 1409 yards and 10 touchdowns. Boldin was solid as well with 853 yards and 9 touchdowns. Early Doucet should also come in as a 3rd round pick and contribute as a slot receiver.

The defense is one of the most underrated units in the league. Darnell Dockett led the team with 9 sacks and should have another Pro Bowl caliber player. Gerald Hayes had a very good year leading the team with 98 tackles along with 4 sacks and an interception. Roderick Hood had a very good year at corner as he had 57 tackles along with 5 interceptions. Antrel Rolle also had 5 interceptions and this off season was moved to safety. Rolle is now teamed up with Adrian Wilson at safety and they should help anchor a strong secondary. The Cardinals have gotten better, but the NFC has gotten tougher and it won't be easy making the playoffs. My prediction is 7-9 and 2nd place in the NFC West.

Atlanta Falcons: This year should be better than last as they no longer have to deal with the Michael Vick saga. Surprisingly, Chris Redman had a solid year as he threw 10 touchdowns in 4 starts. Look for Redman to start until the team feels that Matt Ryan is ready. Michael Turner comes over from the Chargers and should help solidify the Falcons running game. Turner is more of a bruising back while Jerious Norwood is a home run hitter who should have lots of holes to run through after Turner softens the defense. Roddy White had a breakout season last year as he had 1202 yards and 6 touchdowns. Look for White to have another good season. Laurent Robinson also came on late in his rookie season as he had 437 yards and a touchdown. With the departure of Alge Crumpler, Martez Milner looks to be the starting tight end. Milner has great size and should be a great red zone target for whoever is under center for the Falcons.

Due to the struggles on offense, the defense spent lots of time on the field. But the unit has some talent. John Abraham led the team with 10 sacks and should have another big year. Michael Boley had a Pro Bowl caliber season with 109 tackles along with 3 sacks and 2 interceptions. Look for Boley to be even better this year. With the departure of DeAngelo Hall, the secondary could have some troubles. Von Hutchins had a solid year with the Texans last year recording 93 tackles but Chris Houston is still young and unproven. The Falcons have some talent but this year they are clearly planning for the future. My prediction is 4-12 and 4th place in the NFC South.

Carolina Panthers: Every year the Panthers are predicted to be one of the sleeper teams in the NFC and this year is no different. Jake Delhomme is coming off Tommy John surgery but before the injury, Delhomme was having a great year. Reports out of camp though say that Delhomme is throwing the ball well and should be back to regular form. DeAngelo Williams had a solid year with 717 yards and 4 touchdowns. Williams should make a good duo with 1st round pick Jonathan Stewart. Stewart has the potential to be a 20 carry a game back and should help give the Panthers a balanced offense. Steve Smith is among one of the best receivers in the league and should have another good year. Smith though will be missed early on in the year as he will be suspended for the first two games of the year for a training camp incident where he broke teammate Ken Lucas' nose. D.J. Hackett was brought in this off season though and should be the teams’ number one receiver while Smith is out.

A few years ago, the Panthers had one of the best defenses in the league. Now they are in the middle of the pack. Julius Peppers had an off year as he only had 2 sacks. Look for Peppers to get back to his double digit sack form this year though. If not for Patrick Willis, people would be talking about Jon Beason's great rookie year. Beason had 140 tackles and if he keeps it up, should make the Pro Bowl for the first time this year. Chris Harris is one of the best safeties in the league and proved it last year with 96 tackles and 8 forced fumbles. Look for Harris to get the national attention he deserves this year. If Delhomme stays healthy, the Panthers have a great chance of making the playoffs but with the elite teams in the NFC East, unless you win the division, it will be hard to make the playoffs. My prediction is 7-9 and 2nd place in the NFC South.

Chicago Bears: It's hard to believe that the Bears represented the NFC in the Super Bowl a year ago. The Bears still aren't settled at quarterback as neither Rex Grossman or Kyle Orton did anything to impress last year. Grossman threw 4 touchdowns and 7 interceptions while Orton threw 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Matt Forte should come in as a rookie and take over the starting role at running back. Forte has the ability to be an every down back and should have a big year in Chicago. With the departure of Bernard Berrian to the division rival Vikings, the Bears are weak at receiver. The teams brought back Marty Booker and are counting on Devin Hester to show off his game changing ability and become a reliable receiver. Greg Olsen should make a big impact at tight end this year though as he showed reliable hands during his rookie year.

Even though the offense has regressed since the Super Bowl appearance, the defense is still very strong. Brian Urlacher led the team with 123 tackles and also had 5 sacks and 5 interceptions. Lance Briggs also had a good year with over 100 tackles and 2 sacks. Tommie Harris is one of the best defensive tackles in the game and had a career high 8 sacks. The corner position is solid with Charles Tillman and Nathan Vasher. Tillman had 75 tackles and 3 interceptions while Vasher has been consistent over the course of his career but was hurt for the majority of the year. The only problem with the Bears defense is the offense as they are on the field for the majority of the game. Until the quarterback position is settled, the Bears will have a hard time winning in a competitive NFC. My prediction is 5-11 and 4th place in the NFC North.

Dallas Cowboys: On paper, the Cowboys are the strongest team in the NFC. But they haven't proved that in the playoffs. Tony Romo had a very good year as he had 36 touchdowns. With the targets Romo has, he could have a very similar year. Marion Barber is a bruising back who had a very good year with 975 yards and 10 touchdowns. Felix Jones teamed up with Barber should give the Cowboys a thunder and lightning combo in the backfield as Jones has great speed. Terrell Owens had another good year with 1355 yards and 15 touchdowns. Even at 34, Owens shows no signs of slowing down. Jason Witten also had a career year with 96 catches 1145 yards and 7 touchdowns. Look for Witten to have another big year.

The defense has loads of talent and is one of the elite units in the NFC. DeMarcus Ware led the team with 14 sacks and should have another Pro Bowl caliber year. Greg Ellis also had a very good year with 12 sacks. Bradie James also had a solid year leading the team with 101 tackles. Terence Newman also had a solid year as he had 50 tackles and 4 interceptions. Newman has developed into one of the premiere corners in the game. The Cowboys also acquired Adam Jones this offseason and should play on the other side of Newman. Before his year long suspension, Jones was showing why he could be one of the best young corners in the game. Now he is just trying to shake off the rust and he should be fine by the end of the year. Roy Williams had a solid year with 92 tackles and 2 interceptions but he struggled at times in pass coverage. The Cowboys have all the tools to be a very successful team, but they are going to have to win a playoff game first. My prediction is 12-4 and 1st place in the NFC East.

Detroit Lions: It's hard to believe, but heading into week 9 the Lions were 6-2 and destined for a playoff berth. They finished the year at 7-9 which in Lion terms, is a pretty good season. But things are starting to look up. Jon Kitna had a solid year throwing for over 4000 yards and 18 touchdowns. The only problem is that with Mike Martz running the offense, the Lions had no running game at all. Kevin Smith hopes to change that as he should make an immediate impact as a rookie. Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson look to form in one of the best receiver tandems in the league. Williams had another solid year with 838 yards and 5 touchdowns while Johnson was bothered by injury his rookie year and had 756 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The defense has some talent but they are still coming together as a unit. Dewayne White and Jared DeVries give the Lions force off the edge as they both led the team with 6 sacks each. Ernie Sims had a huge year with 134 tackles a sack and 3 forced fumbles. Sims has been one of the most productive linebackers in the league since he was drafted so look for him to get more national attention this year. Paris Lenon was solid as well as he had 118 tackles 2 sacks and an interception. Leigh Bodden came over to the Lions this offseason in a trade for Shaun Rodgers and should have an immediate impact. Bodden has shown the cover skills to be an elite corner in the league. Gerald Alexander was also a force in his rookie year at safety as he had 81 tackles 2 sacks and 2 interceptions. Overall, the Lions have lots of young talent but until they fire Matt Millen, they are still a few years away from making the playoffs. My prediction is 6-10 and 3rd place in the NFC North.

Green Bay Packers: Even after all of the Brett Favre drama, the Packers still have the makings of a solid team. Aaron Rodgers didn't get much playing time last year but when he did, he looked sharp completing over 70 percent of his passes. Rodgers has plenty of weapons around him and should make an impact early on. Ryan Grant came out of nowhere last season and ended up running for 956 yards and 8 touchdowns. Look for Grant to have an even better season this year. Donald Driver had another solid year with over 1000 yards. Greg Jennings is developing into the number one receiver as he had 12 touchdowns last season and should have another big season. Look for James Jones to improve on his solid rookie season as he showed lots of potential and will eventually compliment Jennings when Driver retires.

The Packers defense was very good last year and has the talent to be one of the best in the league this year. Aaron Kampman had a very good season as he was among the league leaders with 12 sacks. Both Nick Barnett and AJ Hawk were very productive as Barnett had 131 tackles while Hawk had 105. Al Harris got most of the credit at corner for the Packers, but Charles Woodson had a better year. Woodson was among one of the best corners in the league last year as he had 63 tackles along with four interceptions. Harris was solid as well but had a very hard time matching up with Plaxico Burress in the NFC Championship game. Atari Bigby had a solid year with 86 tackles and 5 interceptions. Bigby though still struggled in coverage and should improve this year. The Packers still have lots of talent and if Rodgers plays up to his potential, the Packers could make another deep run in the NFC. My prediction is 9-7 and 2nd place in the NFC North.

Minnesota Vikings: Even though the Vikings missed out on the Brett Favre sweepstakes, the team should still be very good. Tarvaris Jackson wasn't that great in his first full year as a starter as he only threw 9 touchdowns. Look for Jackson to improve in his 3rd season. The Vikings have one of the best rushing attacks in the league in Chester Taylor and Adrian Peterson. Peterson had a great rookie season with 1341 yards and 12 touchdowns. Look for Peterson to have another Pro Bowl season in his second year. Taylor was solid as well as he had over 800 yards along with 7 touchdowns. Going into last season, receiver was a weak position for the Vikings. Now they have lots of young talent at the position. Bernard Berrian was brought in and should give the team an excellent deep threat that they were missing. Look for Sidney Rice to breakout in his 2nd season as he showed flashes of potential last year and should be a great red zone threat for Jackson. The team is also very high on Aundrae Allison who is having a very good camp. Look for Allison to be the slot receiver this year.

The defense should be one of the best in the league as they have loads of talent. Pat and Kevin Williams are both among the best run stoppers in the league and with the addition of Jared Allen, the Vikings now have an excellent pass rush. E.J. Henderson had a very good year as he had 118 tackles and 4 sacks. Look for Chad Greenway to improve as he had over 100 tackles last season in his first year as a starter. The secondary is also strong as Antoine Winfield is one of the best corners in the league. Darren Sharper also had a very good year as he had 63 tackles and 4 interceptions. The Vikings have the talent to go deep into the playoffs but everything comes down to the play of Jackson. My prediction is 10-6 and 1st place in the NFC North.

New Orleans Saints: Last year the Saints were projected to make a deep run in the playoffs. It didn't end up happening, but they have a great chance this year. Drew Brees is one of the best quarterbacks in the league and had another solid year with 28 touchdowns. If Brees has to throw the ball 652 times again though, it could be a long year for the Saints. Reggie Bush still hasn't lived up to his potential as he battled injuries last season and ran for 587 yards and 4 touchdowns. With both Bush and Deuce McAllister having trouble staying healthy, look for Pierre Thomas to have an impact as he showed lots of potential late in the season. Marques Colston is developing into one of the best receivers in the league as he had 98 catches for 1202 yards and 11 touchdowns. Look for Colston to make his first Pro Bowl this year. Robert Meachem should have a breakout year as well as he didn't play in his rookie year but has looked very impressive in training camp. Jeremy Shockey is still one of the premier tight ends in the league left and is a quality weapon for Brees to throw to.

If not for the defenses struggles, the Saints would have been a playoff team last year. Will Smith led the team with 7 sacks and has the potential to be one of the league's elite pass rushers. Scott Fujita led the team with 95 tackles and also had 3sacks. The team also added Jonathan Vilma this offseason and it should have a huge impact on the linebacker corps. Roman Harper is developing into one of the best safeties in the league as he had 90 tackles along with 4 sacks and 3 interceptions last season. Mike McKenzie was solid last year as he had 52 tackles and had 3 interceptions. One of the biggest problems on defense is who plays across from McKenzie as Jason David didn't impress last year and Usama Young didn't show that much last season as a rookie. The Saints have tons of talent and if the defense gets everything resolved, they could be a Super Bowl contender in the NFC. My prediction is 12-4 and 1st place in the NFC South

New York Giants: The Giants still have a very strong team, but it will be very hard to come close to matching last year’s success. Eli Manning had a solid year with over 3300 yards and 23 touchdowns. Manning did throw 20 interceptions though and he will need to cut down on that if the Giants want a chance at repeating. Brandon Jacobs was very effective as a starter averaging 5 yards a carry on his way to 1000 yards. Ahmad Bradshaw was also very effective when he got carries and based off his postseason performance, he should get a lot more carries this year. Plaxico Burress was hurt for a good majority of the year but still put up big numbers. Burress had a pro bowl type season with over 1000 yards and 12 touchdowns. The ankle injury is still nagging Burress though and it could affect his play the first few weeks of the season. Amani Toomer can still get it done as well as he had 760 yards and 3 touchdowns. Look for Steve Smith to play a big role in the offense this season as he was very effective in the postseason and was bothered by injuries throughout his rookie season. Replacing Jeremy Shockey will be a tough task, but Kevin Boss is up to the challenge. Boss played a big role in the Super Bowl and isn't a big distraction like Shockey was.

Even though the defense took lots of hits by retirement, injuries and free agency, the Giants should still have a very effective unit. With Michael Strahan retiring and Osi Umenyiora out for the season, the Giants defensive line could be in trouble. But they are still in pretty good shape as Justin Tuck is emerging into one of the best young defensive ends in the game. The team also has Mathias Kiwanuka who was regarded as one of the best defensive ends in the 2006 draft. Kiwanuka has been playing linebacker the first few years of his career but should have an immediate impact at his old position. With the loss of Kawika Mitchell, the linebacker corps takes a hit. But Antonio Pierce will have another big year as he should once again led the team in tackles. The corners are solid as Aaron Ross showed lots of flashes of his potential in his rookie season and should only get better. Sam Madison is also a smart veteran who still has a few years left. The team thinks they got a first round steal in Kenny Phillips. Phillips has looked great in training camp and should be an impact for the Giants at safety for years to come. Overall, the Giants are a strong team but many teams should be competitive in the NFC this year. My prediction is 10-6 and 3rd place in the NFC East.

Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles were a disappointment last season as many people (myself included) had them representing the NFC in the Super Bowl. But the Eagles still have lots of talent. Donovan McNabb is one of the best quarterbacks in the league and he had another solid year throwing for over 3300 yards and 19 touchdowns. Brian Westbrook made Eagles fans and fantasy owners very happy last season as he was the heart of the offense. Westbrook had over 2000 total yards and 12 touchdowns. He also caught 90 passes. Receiver was a big issue of concern for the Eagles this year but with the injury to Kevin Curtis, the receivers have to step up even more. Curtis led the team in yards and touchdowns last season and should have a big impact when he returns. Until then the starters should be Reggie Brown and DeSean Jackson. Brown had a solid year with 780 yards and 4 touchdowns but still hasn't fully lived up to his potential. Jackson has been very impressive in training camp and is a great deep threat and has showed willingness to go over the middle. Jackson will also play a huge factor on special teams as he was one of the most electrifying return men in college football last year and already took a punt back for a touchdown in the preseason. Look for Brent Celek to emerge this year at tight end as he is a big target with good hands. Celek could become one of McNabb's go-to-guy's by the end of the year.

On defense, the Eagles have tons of talent. Trent Cole led the team with 12 sacks and has turned into one of the best pass rushers in the league. Broderick Bunkley and Mike Patterson help clog up the middle and stop the run game and both are pro bowl caliber players. Omar Gaither has a very good chance of breaking out in his 3rd year as he is coming off a year where he led the team with 102 tackles. The Eagles are loaded at corner as they have three corners that would start on any team. Lito Sheppard is one of the best corners in the league and had a solid year with 51 tackles and 2 interceptions. Sheldon Brown was also very good as he had 68 tackles and led the team with 3 interceptions. Most notetly, the team added Asante Samuel, one of the best corners in the league this offseason. The Eagles also have Brian Dawkins at safety who is still very productive and strikes fear into opponents. Overall, the Eagles are one of the most talented teams in the league. This team has the talent and the depth to go deep into the playoffs. My prediction is 11-5 and 2nd place in the NFC East.

San Francisco 49ers: The 49ers were a trendy playoff pick last season but didn't quite live up to expectations. Part of that was because of the quarterback play. With Alex Smith not living up to the billing of the 1st overall pick, the 49ers brought in J.T. O'Sullivan this offseason and he won the starting job. O'Sullivan looked very sharp in preseason and knows the Mike Martz offense well. Frank Gore is one of the best backs in the league and should have a big year. Gore has excellent hands out of the backfield and should catch 60 plus passes this year. Vernon Davis had a solid year with 509 yards and 4 touchdowns. Davis hasn't lived up to expectations though but could have a big year in Martz's pass oriented offense. Isaac Bruce should be a very good addition for the 49ers as he can still play and gives them a great knowledge of the Martz offense. The team could have found a steal in Josh Morgan in the 6th round as Morgan was one of the most impressive receivers this preseason averaging over 20 yards a catch.

The 49ers have lots of young talent on defense. Bryant Young led the team with 6 sacks last year and is one of the most consistent players on the defensive line. Patrick Willis is already an elite linebacker as he led the league with 174 tackles as a rookie. Willis should have another big year but with the lack of offense last year, his numbers a bit inflated. Manny Lawson has also shown lots of potential but injuries have stopped him from reaching it. Look for Lawson to breakout this year. Nate Clements came in as expected and showed that he was a big time corner last season. Clements had 92 tackles and 4 interceptions but no matter how well he does, he probably won't be worth what the 49ers paid him last offseason. Overall the 49ers have lots of young talent but until they get consistency at the quarterback position, it will be hard to make a playoff push. My prediction is 4-12 and 4th place in the NFC West.

Seattle Seahawks: The Seahawks went deep into the playoffs last year and have a very similar team to do it again. Matt Hasselbeck is among the best quarterbacks in the league as he threw for almost 4000 yards and 28 touchdowns. Julius Jones was brought in during the offseason and should have a big impact while getting the majority of the carries. Justin Forsett also looked good this preseason and could play a big role if something happened to Jones. The receiving corps is deflated by injuries but they should still be effective. Nate Burelson is the number one at the moment and he had a solid year with 694 yards and 9 touchdowns. Burelson will also have a major impact on punt returns as he is one of the best return men in the league. Look for Ben Obomanu to get a good look as well as the team is impressed with what he has to offer.

The Seahawks are one of the most effective defenses in the league. Patrick Kerney led the team with 14 sacks and is one of the most productive pass rushers in the league. Julian Peterson also had a big year with 74 tackles and also had 10 sacks. Lofa Tatupu is one of the best linebackers in the league and showed it last year with 109 tackles along with 4 interceptions. Marcus Trufant also had a career year as he had 85 tackles and had 7 interceptions. Trufant has shown that he has the talent to be one of the best corners in the league. Deon Grant was also very effective as he had 77 tackles and 3 interceptions. Most people usually sleep on the Seahawks but when the playoffs come around they are always dangerous. My prediction is 11-5 and 1st place in the NFC West.

St.Louis Rams: The Rams still have lots of talent but with key players starting to get older, the Rams need to win now. Marc Bulger took a beating last year and threw for only 11 touchdowns. Look for Bulger to get back to his original form this year. Steven Jackson is still one of the best backs in the league and despite fighting injuries, went for over 1000 yards. Torry Holt is still among the league’s best receivers and had another solid year with 93 catches for 1189 yards and 7 touchdowns. Drew Bennett also has the chance to put up some numbers as he is starting opposite Holt and has great size that makes him a red zone target.

The defense struggled last year but has lots of talent. Leonard Little is starting to decline but with the addition of Chris Long through the draft, both players should benefit. La'Roi Glover is still productive as he had 6 sacks. Will Witherspoon had a very underrated season as he had 110 tackles and led the team with 7 sacks. Look for Witherspoon to get more national attention this year. O.J. Atogwe also had a pro bowl type year but didn't get much attention. Atogwe had 75 tackles and was amoong the league leaders with 8 interceptions. Corey Chavous also had a solid year as he had 75 tackles along with 4 sacks. Overall, the Rams have talent, but they are still a few years away from getting back to a contender. My prediction is 6-10 and 3rd place in the NFC West.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Bucs surprised lots of people last year by winning the NFC South but with the offseason the Saints have had, it will be very hard to repeat. Jeff Garcia surprised lots of people last year throwing for 13 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Garcia can still play, the only question is for how long. Earnest Graham had a solid year running for 898 yards and 10 touchdowns. Graham should have over 1000 this year. Joey Galloway is still very productive as he led the team in yards and touchdowns. Galloway may be approaching his 37th birthday, but he shows no sign of slowing down. Ike Hilliard was also very productive as he had 62 catches for 722 yards.

The Bucs showed last year that their defense can still play at a high level. Gaines Adams had 6 sacks as a rookie but should breakout this year and reach double digits. Greg White led the team with 8 sacks and should have another big year with the defense shifting attention to Adams. Derrick Brooks had another solid year with 109 tackles. Brooks is one of the leaders of the defense and when it's all said and done should be a first ballot hall of famer. Barrett Rudd led the team with 114 tackles and also had 2 interceptions. If Rudd has another big year, he could be looking forward to his first pro bowl appearence. Ronde Barber is still one of the best corners in the league and had a solid year with 58 tackles and 2 interceptions. The safeties are very skilled as Tanard Jackson and Jermaine Phillips both have lots of potential. The Bucs think Jackson could be a John Lynch type player as he showed lots of potential as a rookie. Phillips led the team with 4 interceptions and also had 83 tackles. Overall, the Bucs have talent but with the rise of the Saints and key players aging, it will be very hard getting another playoff berth. My prediction is 6-10 and 3rd place in the NFC South.

Washington Redskins: The Redskins have talent, but in the NFC East, it will be very hard to compete. Jason Campbell had a solid year before he got hurt as he threw for 2700 yards and 12 touchdowns. Campbell is still developing and should have an even bigger impact this year. Clinton Portis has proven to be one of the most consistent backs in the league as he had another big season running for 1262 yards and 11 touchdowns. Santana Moss led the team with 808 receiving yards but in order to win, he must be more consistent. Chris Cooley on the other hand puts up similar numbers every week and had another big season with 786 yards and 8 touchdowns.

The defense made one of the biggest moves of the offseason by trading for Jason Taylor. Taylor is one of the most productive defensive ends in NFL history and still is a double digit sack player. Andre Carter led the team with 10 sacks and with the addition of Taylor, he could be even more effective this year. London Fletcher can still get it done as he led the team with 128 tackles and had 3 interceptions. Look for Rocky McIntosh to breakout this year as he showed lots of potential last year. The secondary was the strength of the defense last year as everyone was very effective. Shawn Springs led the team with 4 interceptions and also had 62 tackles. Fred Smoot had a very productive season as he had 50 tackles and 1 interception as teams were throwing away from him. Carlos Rogers is also turning into a very good corner as he showed lots of potential before getting hurt last season. LaRon Landry was very effective as a rookie as he had 95 tackles along with 2 sacks. The Redskins have the talent to make a run in the playoffs but they will just need to get through their division first. My prediction is 6-10 and 4th place in the NFC East.
